Update Update

Note from future me:  this post and several around it relate to the previous version of TDV before I moved it all over to Blogger, in a tradeoff of fine detail control for convenience.

For all that it hardly seems the case, the new Devil's Virtue design continues at decent speed. I've gotten back into a roll on it and knocked out a goodly chunk. The plan now is to publish the site immediately once the Galleries are ready, leaving the Projects, Connections and Techniques pages with a "Coming Soon" graphic, so as to get the really important material up and available while I hack away at the rest.

The revised task schedule -- again, posted here not because anyone is slavering to know, more to keep myself on track -- is as follows:

Home -- get the scrollbar for the "News" box working, finalize the "Welcome" text, write the first News article. Subpages: "News Archives" and "Contact Me" need their navigation graphics polished, but they both use the same layout. The "Contact Me" page needs to be written, which shouldn't take long once the page for it is laid out.

Galleries -- almost entirely ready to go. The HTML and navigation graphics are done and the menu heirarchy is set; now I need to pick which images to put into each Gallery, create thumbnails, write descriptive text where needed, and plug 'em all into the appropriate spots.

Articles -- done! All that's left for this section is to beef it up with more actual content, but that's a post-launch job.

Projects -- needs menu graphics, subpage design for individual project pages, final decisions on what gets a Projects page and what material is ready for public view, and related text written. Individual Projects need their own graphic sets eventually, but for now they'll work fine with a subpage modification of the Projects design. This section will probably launch with a "Coming Soon" banner.

Connections -- needs menu graphics, footer design, design for "Archive" subpages, final selection of links to include and the menu heirarchy to display them, and text descriptions/capsule reviews of links written. Might turn out easier to put up simple lists without review for the launch; it'll look better than nothing but a banner, at least.

Techniques -- same design tasks as Connections (footer, menu graphics, subpage), plus at least one tutorial written w/illustrations. That could take a while; Tech is definitely "Coming Soon" at this point.

I also need to do a header graphic for this blog to replace the plain-text title up above in a fashion more coordinated with the TDV look, but that's a very much no-hurry task.

At the current pace I plan to have the Galleries finalized, zip the whole thing up and send it off to the new webhost before going to bed tonight. By midnight Sunday devilsvirtue.com should be pointing at the new address and the old Google site will be ready to drop quietly off a cliff.

Laugh at me in the morning for assuming this will be a quick and simple operation.
